Dead chuffed with this review of my recent album on Miracle Pond:
I was feeling a bit hacky tonight and wanted to try and automate downloading all the audio samples I wanted from a particular website. Basically I couldn’t be arsed to go though all the pages and download everything from links.
Turns out it’s pretty easy on OSX, with one handy command line tool. But first things first, make sure you have homebrew installed.
One you have homebrew, open the terminal and install wget:
brew install wget
Next, point it to the website you want to pillage. If the website happens to store all the audio in one directory, then all the quicker. Otherwise, no biggie, as this command should recursively search through sub-directories too.
wget -r -np -k -A wav,WAV,aiff http://machines.hyperreal.org/samples.html
The main flag we’re interested here is -A mp3,wav,aiff
as this filters the filetypes we are downloading. So you could replace these for jpg
or mov
etc if you are after other filetypes.
Set it off, sit back and the files will be downloaded into a directory in your home folder.
Happy farming!
There’s nothing like trekking halfway up a mountain to set up camp and taking in the majestic splendor of your surroundings.
Energy, freedom and vibrancy, Luke Sanger has nailed that feeling with his Mountain Dance EP for Cosmic Pint Glass. 3 tracks of airy, spacious techno with euphoric tinges written in the foothills of the Pyrenees. With remixes from Jamie Paton, bringing a darker psychedelic edge to proceedings, and Møzaika taking us into the drumming circle for a furious freestyle drum workout.
Luke Sanger aka Luke’s Anger aka Duke Slammer has got over half a hundred releases under his belt! he’s been programming his electronic groove boxes, drum machines, sequencers and synths to sing in harmony (and not so harmony) for decades. In this latest EP, Mountain Dance, we see the many facets of Sanger working together; Acid House, Ambient, Techno to create heady dance floor material.

“World of Inherent Noise is a masterclass in languid electronica, and these new recordings are both native and alien, bringing out the everyday weirdness of being confined to the house while a pandemic rages just outside your double glazing.” Paul Bareham
